The round black object on the bridge of the kalimba (Ling Ting 17keys) in this video is a contact pickup called an MSP pickup.

This MSP pickup has built-in strong magnets, so it can be easily attached by simply attracting the MSP pickup and the bridge.

As the MSP pickup is a kind of contact pickups, it is less likely to pick up surrounding noise, making it easy to record at home.
